They're good movies, yes. Enjoyable and adventurous, as they should be, but I am finding them a little "stretched to fill". Something I never felt about LoTR, while not being entirely satisfied with all of it's content. It was more a case of them deciding to omit some things and include others that required more emphasis to make sense in the story but for me added little. With the Hobbit I feel they are stretching and padding to get three movies when two would have been preferable, because the additional stuff they are squeezing in has little substance and is mainly for flash. All of the party running around inside the Lonely Mountain with Smaug chasing them was .... well, I'm saying no more!
I'm probably biased, mind, as this was the book that at the tender age of 9 introduced me to DnD as a concept, and lit a flame that burns still. It's precious to me.
