A little problem.

After taking care of the most immediate vampire problem, the group was on its way back to report the good news to the nearby settlements. Howver, a tiny creature like a pixie but wihout wings showed up and asked for their help. She needed great heoes to follow her at once to prevent evil creatures to take over her forest. As the group eventually agreed to help the litle fey they met with the druid protecting the forest.
Sinc ethey arrived by magical means Pius had no idea where exactly they were but for the time beinf that was secondary...

//

New router installed so I do not expect any more trouble other than being roughly 4000 XP being the group.

A point about Pius' favorite weapon(s) being a servant of Helm (The deity wields "Ever Watchful", a +4 holy keen lawful Bastard Sword, the favored weapon of his faith). One hand weapon 1st choice bastard sword, 2nd choice another exotic weapon, 3rd choice martial weapon.
Large weapon: No real preference. NWN does not include lances and spear is a poor substitute. Great swords are nice but these are for Amathain. May be Great Axe, Great hammer or anything but dual weapons.

"So, what do we think is the best approach for an undead dragon?" Shanni asked as they rested prior to moving out. "Holy blessings seemed to work very nicely against the vampires in the end so I imagine it would be the same for an undead dragon, but there's a limit to what even the Lady will grant so how best to use them?"

"Always a balance," she continued, picking up a mouthful of the food they had been given and munching it thoughtfully. "Things that will kill them quickly and things that will stop them killing us. But most of us can glean some level of blessing from our patron, even if the Lady has favoured my dedication more than most, so I'm open to suggestion as to whether you wish me to save the blessings or not."

"I mean," the young cleric added grinning merrily, "if kindness can kill them I'm all for being kind."

((Stocking lots of weapons has several drawbacks.

1) While it's sitting in your inventory it could possibly be used by someone else to good effect.
2) Spare weapons fetch gold we can use to buy supplies or gear if nothing else, which may prevent as much healing being needed.
3) Holding on to a +1 weapon by our level seems pointless as they are not going to get through DR. If it has very good additional damage properties and you have it buffed that's fine, but I can't stock enough spells to buff every weapon to +5. It's no use keeping spares if when you swap them out you're using a +1 variant.
4) Specialisation is the friend of a group where we have lots of melee weapon users. The improvements you will get by taking feats which boost the attack bonus, damage, damage reduction, and critical chance of a favoured weapon massively outweigh the benefits of having different weapon types on the off chance we might meet something resistant to one or the other type of damage.
5) There doesn't seem to be any point in holding several weapons with the same type of damage. I can understand storing a good blunt and a good slashing weapon, but slashing damage is slashing damage no matter what wields it.

I'm completely on the side of weapons going to the best user but only if the character is going to use it a large percentage of the time. With the best will in the world if you have more than 3 weapons that's not going to happen. Plus if someone gets a new weapon the one it replaces should be handed on down, and if no one else needs it then sold instead.))

"Perhaps we might start by offering one a nice cup of tea?" Nihmri said. "Have ourselves a proper conversation. Give it a chance to talk about what's been bothering them - really give them a chance to pour their heart out, you know? I can't imagine it's easy being an undead dragon-thing. Parents questioning their life choices, friends who try their best but just don't understand... it must be quite a lot of weight to carry on one's shoulders. And that's without touching on the state of their love life! Broken bones and broken hearts all around, I'm sure. Oh, we'd best remember to bring napkins! Things may very well get emotional."

Toric looked at Nih askance and shook his head. "Ye're welcome to offer it all the tea it wants, lass, but I highly doubt it'll take ye up on that offer." He grinned. "Oh, don't look at me that way. I know ye're kidding, but Shanni has the right of it. I'm guessing some protection 'gainst mind affects and negative energy would be a good start. Extra healing never hurts either. I've 'bout 30 or so kits, but can always carry more. Got me own blessings, but I've a feeling this undead lizard'll be able to disspell 'em easily, so I'd rather not rely on 'em. Some elemental protection might be a good idea as well 'cause I'm betting it can cast stuff like lightning and fireballs. I'd treat it as a major undead and prepare that way."

We should spend the time we have in preperation and prayer, our patrons might provide aid or insight into defeating a threat like this. I myself will pray for guidance and the means to strike this abomination down.

//got my uncles wedding to go to tomorrow, so very unlikely to make the game. Sorry peeps, have fun.

The assault on the cultist stronghold went very well with the main leaders slain and the minions slaughtered or scattered. Slade enjoyed being able to hunt in the woods without the noisy party alerting his prey. He dispatched half a dozen of so cultist guards on the flanks as the party charged into the middle, as usual. Sliding in and out of the shadows it was like shooting fish in a barrel. The lone survivor fled, riddled with arrows. Inside the fortress, with less room to move about Slade stuck to supporting from the rear or flanks. In the early stages of the showdown with a dracolich, he unfortunately got paralyzed with fear and fell to the beast's breath. Fortunately, he companions were able to bring him back with their skills. He made up for it though by stalking and engaging the wizard and his lackey who were lurking in the shadows at the back of the huge hall as the fight raged on. He paralyzed the wizard and Pius happily hacked the stunned mage down. The party found some nice loot and he collected some arrows and a new pair of bracers, so all in all, a very good outing he felt.

Beware of large strange looking insects and draining magic.

With only one knight to protect the party, Toric and Pius took the front hoping that the others could cover flanks and rear. They moved in the forest towards the cultists base. The cultists base was located in some ancient ruins. The area was well guarded and warded with numerous traps. Nevertheless, the devoted managed to get close enough to take the cultists out and avoid most of the traps. They found a way into the ruins underground. There were the cultists and other creatures. At one point, a large insect moved to contact, Toric and Pius being in the front were both "attacked" by the creature. The thing somehow rusted Pius' hammer instantly. So Pius had to use his bastard sword to continue to fight. Later on, they found the skeleton dragon or dracolich as they called it. Without superior enchantment on his weapon, Pius could not hurt the undead but he could stand in front of the beast hoping that it would not hurt or kill his friends. Once or twice he had to retreat to heal himself or help someone injured. At one point, he called for a retreat but the others stayed and continued to attack the large beast. At one point, Pius noticed two figures near the back of the room. He quickly left the others handle the dragon and moved to contact. One was a mage and the other a potent fencer. He took both down with the help of his friends...

"Jealousy doesn't suit you," sniffed Suula, adjusting the bodice of her new, garish robe while looking sourly at her sister. Around them, the forests took on new life; birds taking their first tentative tweets in days, though the fauna of the woods gave the group a respectful berth. "What am I taliking about, jealousy practically is your suit. Feeling dowdy in that old gold harness? If you're lucky, maybe a rust-monster'll eat it up."
