Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

Toric looked around and shook his head. "So now we're chasin' after some mysterious Drow female? Am I the only one who's worried 'bout this? Drow ain't known fer their love of Dwarves and them females are really bad 'bout not liking males in general. So I'm guessin' Suula'll do the talking fer now since they're of the same disposition." He winks and grins at Suula.

((I've put the server up, though if it decides to go off line there is likely nothing to be done. SA has contact if I am contactable and I'll try to relay information to my youngest. Count Shanni as having got lost ... again. Have fun with the drow!))
Re: Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread
"The drow never told us whether "she" was a drow female or not. She could be any number of strange or dangerous creatures, judging by what we have seen so far."

+1300xp for Toric, Pius, and Amathain for IC posting.

Suula huffs. "I've only ever heard stories. And not stories easily told. Tales to frighten, told around camp fires, in the shadow of old ruins. But if there's even a hint of truth to them, then I'm nothing compared to what we're about to meet."
She sniffs. "If it's at all possible, I'll try to put in a good word for you all. Priestess to priestess. Maybe you'll all be sent to the salt mines, rather than just sacrificed to their... goddess."

The trip through drow territory to the old Dwarven outpost had gone off better than Slade had expected. The drow let them in and out, for a price, and they'd managed to secure the artifact they were after. He couldn't help but look over his shoulder though, from time-to-time, to see if they were being tracked. Not that he was certain he'd be able to spot one of their scouts at a distance, but at least he had to take the prudent measure.

A bridge too far?
The group ventured into another area of the Underdark controlled by the infamous drows. The bridge the devoted had to cross featured a large metal gate locked and well guarded by a group of dark elves commanded by a matron. After some talk, Amathain convinced the matron to offer them safe passage...
On the way back the group was prepared for a deadly confrontation since a matron's betrayal was to be expected. Yet, she did no such thing letting the group cross the bridge once more.
The devoted then had to figure where they would need to go to open a portal and finish the task. Returning to the angry elemental area did not bare any fruit. The answer would have to be someplace else, perhaps a corner of the Underdark they had yet to visit.
Pius silently prayed for the success of the mission.

Toric sighed. "So now we're running 'round in circles, eh? Why doesn't that surprise me?" He frowned and looked around. "We need to figure out the right way to go and soon, 'fore that chaos curse starts really affecting us. If'n it weren't for this ball, I'da sworn there was a beetle talking to me earlier; but we all know beetles can't talk, right? Right? Right." He took out the ball and looked it over. "To think this is what we need to put things right. I don't know 'bout you guys, but it's a bit heavy. Not heavy as in weight wise, but heavy as in what it expects. It be calming, but something's not quite right with it. It's hard to explain, but I'll be glad when we're done with it." He tucked the ball back in to his pack and readied his gear to set out.

"We're not running around in circles st all! " Nihmri protested. "No, no, no. We are wandering heedlessly into the dark, gaping maw of the abyss in the vague hope that we will somehow contrive to stumble upon whatever nightmarish abomination is threatening to devour our very sanity. That's /much/ better, see? Right. Now do keep up, or else we'll leave you to the beetles."

There has to be something we're missing," says Suula, scratching at the back of her hand as she's done for the past three minutes. "There HAS to be. It's this big giant swirling curtain of chaos. Isn't it? People'd be dashing about, yelling about it. It should be etched on the walls! DON'T GO THIS WAY! So there must be something - anything!"
She eyed the ball in Toric's hands nervously, and eyes his pack once it's away. "Are we sure we know what we've got to do? Do you know how to use that?" Her face pinched suspiciously.
