The Underdark as they called it was not that bad after all. It was not that dark either. Pius had assumed that one needed to see in the dark or use whatever device or magic to light the way but it was not the case so far.

They had seen giant mushrooms but they were just grey white. A blacksmith offered to make highly effective heavy armours if provided with the right metals, the kind of protective equipment that could be used by Amathain, Pius or Toric.

The group ventured in a maze of caves going up and down and chased trolls all over the place. They did found pieces of metals the blacksmith requested and some trinkets. Pius, got a helmet that was, by the look of it, probably made for a gnome or may be for a bard. He decided not to keep it. On the other hand with a new armour he knew that he could probably fight without a shield and being by far the strongest in the group he could cut evil creatures in half using a great sword, great axe or some other big weapon just like Amathain.

Right now, it was time to eat, pray, rest and plan for the next trip "down under"...

Stone. Slade had thought he was beyond the range of the medusa's gaze and there were others closer to distract it, so he was not expecting it. Fortunately, someone had the magic to turn him back. He would definitely stay much further away from such creatures in the future. Other than that, the foray into the Underdark had been about what he expected. They'd found and dispatched a number of trolls, recovering some stuff they thought might prove helpful down the line. He picked up a few odd bullets off the fallen trolls; he didn't use his sling much, but they might come in handy some day. Some of the mushrooms needed to be tread about with care, as they sometimes released dangerous spores.

As the others made their first assent into the Underdark, Toric had his head down and muttered into his beard. He was so lost in his thoughts he trailed further and further behind them until he lost them completely. He finally stopped and looked around, frowning when he saw he lost the trail of the others. He spent hours searching the caverns for them before spotting their campfire some distance ahead. He sighed and shook his head, and ran to catch up with them.

"Now that we've stopped the trolls, we have the breathing room to deal with what sounds like a more complicated matter, the elemental portal. I'm still not entirely sure I understand how it works, in more peaceful times the dwarves were able to pass the guardians and travel to this area to receive advice? But now the guardians are hostile and no one has made the trip recently. Maybe the local priest can tell us more before we set out."
