Devotion Campaign Planning and Discussion Thread

The giants had left their lair. The place was empty. The slaves Pius wanted to rescue were either dead or gone except for one dwarf they managed to rescue and escort back to safety.
Back behind the wall they went to report but did not have much time to rest as another portal had appeared in the village. They quickly rushed to close it and remove all the things that had spawned from it.
It was still not clear who was opening these portals and how. Pius wanted to find a way to prevent it but they had no clue, at least not yet.

Can't remember if the giant attack w the catapult was before or after we went to their lair. Wanted to charge on horse to quickly destroy the siege machine but my horse "got scared" (could not mount) so I went on foot.

Nihmri frowned to herself as she tinkered with some particularly uncooperative mechanism in the innards of her crossbow. She put the contraption aside after a while, her thoughts evidently on other matters.
"I guess I'm once again to be the one to ask the obvious questions," she said. "But we've not the slightest idea of where His Royal Majesty might have ran off to, do we? I sincerely doubt we scared him off that easily."
She sighed, then glances back towards her crossbow.
"I read something relevant to the this whole situation, once," she said, thoughtfully. "How did it go again? Ah, yes. In war, it is always preferable to assume that an unseen enemy is in the place where you least want them to be."
She paused. Laughed.
"Which, in my case, would be the highest, coldest peak of the biggest mountain in all the dammed realms. Gods, but I hate the north."

"More or less, Nim," Suula piped up, pointing to the map they'd found. "If he's where we don't want him to be, then he's gone to get help. And that means one of these spots... either the... frost giants or this mysterious... 'other spot'..."
She squints at the map, tapping her chin. "It looks cold, yeah. Skin-freezingly cold. Need to pack something warm."
She thinks for a little more, before looking from side to side and reddening.

"Someone warm, eh?" grins Shanni. "Welllll..... how about Pius? He's big and warm. But then again Toric is small and cuddly too. Easier to carry."
The smug grin spreads. "Probably easier to fit into your pack and dwarves are loyal too." She taps her chin in a mock thoughtful manner. "Yes, I'd something of a known quantity for warmth. Far better than scraps which flit away when your back is turned."

"If a large group of them departed the area, they should have left some sign. It is not easy for a band of giants to travel without disturbing the terrain. Perhaps we can find some trace of them that will give us an idea of which one of these map points they may have made for."
