The group had rescued the inhabitants of a small village which had fallen under the sway of undead from a nearby wizard's stronghold. Slade was glad again for the moonbow that seemed especially potent against such. Unfortunately, this hadn't seemed all that profitable of a task and he wondered how he was going to earn more coin.

Toric leaned back in his chair in the inn with a contented sigh. "We done good, lads and lasses. It do seem like this place be beset by the walkin' dead. Mayhaps that be why the Prelate sent us 'ere? Not that I mind bashin' in zombie skulls, but them skeleton skulls are makin' me blade dull. I hope we get ta cleave some orcs or giants soon; 'least they don't smell as bad."

The last mission was a success. Undead had been returned to their tombs or crawled back wherever they came from. Yet Pius was wondering about the kind of necromancy that was used to create such creatures.

If not from reading books in the old library, or listening to his old master, by now, having ventured with his friends for days, weeks, months into crypts, old dungeons, graveyards and haunted places he was well aware that those imbued with divine powers could "turn" the undead destroying them or making them retreat. Also, most of the time a simple enchantment on a good old blade, mace or hammer was enough to "put to rest" creatures like skeletons, zombies and other walking dead abomination. Yet, he found himself switching between his two swords all the time, trying to hold onto the one that could hurt these foes as if the enchantment on his weapons were not enough. At times, he also struggled to decide what divine magic he should pray and prepare for. Unlike priests, his divine power was limited. The blessing of weapons was very effective against undead, the sonic wave of the "deafening clang", another weapon enhancement would not last long but was effective, the divine favor was good but did not last long either. Pius was always trying to guess or pray to see what to take for the next mission. Considering what they were often facing a general protection from evil was a must.

There was some hope though, perhaps the priests could take care of the protective magic and apparently alchemist's fire and similar tricks could be used to hurt some of the more resilient undead.

"All is good but I fear, in a matter of speech, that we need to improve our strategy and tactics if we hope to defeat more dangerous foes."

"Speaking of tactics, we're some preparations to get through," Nihmri said, casting a pointed look towards those wearing heavy armor. "I'm sure I don't need to remind anyone to dress light. Wouldn't want to drop dead from heat exhaustion and dehydration before we make it to the staff, hm? I wouldn't recommend lumbering around in a few dozen tons of steel in the middle of the desert, is what I'm trying to say. It's no way to win a race, if nothing else."

((I might be a bit late for tomorrow's session, anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or so. Apologies in advance!))

"I assure you, a good suit of plate is not such an encumbrance for one use to wearing it. The travelling gear weighs on one more. It would be better to be prepared for immediate action before we travel through this "portal" if that is the right description. We don't know what dangers may lurk on the other side."

Everyone should be at least 6th level now, so +600xp for Toric, Slade, Pius, Nihmri, and Amathain for IC posting.

I just tested the server and it's running fine, so hopefully all will be well for tomorrow.
