Proposed house rule change on new PC level

Given the average PC level is sufficiently high in the campaign now, I'd like to change the house rule governing new PCs, with new characters entering at 6th level rather than 3rd. Hopefully this rule is not needed for any of the current players for the foreseeable future, but I thought it would be worth modifying at this point. Comments welcome.

I agree completely.

All for it...
But hopefully none of the current players will need to create a new character anytime soon unless of course they want to. If ever we get a new player then starting out he/she will still be able to contribute.

Thanks for the feedback so far. If Ken, SA and VM agree too then I'll make the change.
One thing I should mention, with a new 6th-level PC he/she will need to have a bit more substantive background description when entering the campaign, as befits someone who already has some real experience under their belt (along with the associated friends, enemies and unique accomplishments/failures).
Existing PCs of course are welcome to further flesh out their background histories too, either as part of creating new PC Vignettes for publication, or more privately with the DM.

I, for one, welcome our new level 6 overlords.
The change sounds fine, I'm sure it'd be frustrating as a lowbie with the challenges our group currently faces. 6 sounds about right to not fall over in a strong wind.

I have no objections.

With no objections in the past two months, I'll declare the modified house rule adopted.
