The venture into the crypt had been successful with a number of powerful items found. Alas, none of them were really of much use to Slade. He was offered a short sword, but given he was an archer and not all that well suited to hand-to-hand combat he'd declined in favor of someone who'd actually make better use of it. What he really needed was to pick up better arrows, most of his were just standard ones. He smiled when he saw the half-orc unpack his weapon collection; truly he had a tool for every occasion, though it must weigh a ton to lug around. More importantly, the spirit of the crypt had shared confirmation of the lich. The added weapons would help, but he wondered if they would be enough?

Suula took a moment to stop slicing at the air and getting used to a shield, to look over at the others. "Yes yes, we're all children craving the last treat at heart. I know she is." Suula jerked her head at her sister. "Age nine, gorged herself. Anyway. Why did we get attacked just as we walked out? Who were these ogrish knaves? The Lich's people? THEY don't look undead..."

"No, they don't," Shanni agreed tearing her eyes away from the hammer as it was packed into Pius's gear with a sigh. "Seemingly mortal but ... something strange about them that brings up many questions." She looked around. "First things first though, we still have no idea where our contact is. Do you think there are more ruins or were these definitely the only major ones? If there are no more then is someone leading us astray and just not wanting to tell us everything, or is there some other problem? I am thinking we may have work for these gifts before long."

"And thank you for the offer Toric," she smiled over at the dwarf, "but it's less how powerful the weapon is and more that some weapons are easier to wield than others even when wielded by someone with my level of training. I can cast a blessing to make almost any weapon exceptionally effective, but might not be able to use them properly. The axe might be awkward for me though I will try."

((Thanks GW will take a look and see if I actually took Martial WP, I may have in a fit of desperation. The hammer being Simple WP just made sense to me, as I know we don't have those come along often and I'll be able to put a +5 on anything soon making EB less important.))

"I believe these creatures were some manner of undead, and they were lead by an undead, one with some intelligence. It also said "there they are" so it seems they have started looking for us specifically."

"Curiouser and curiouser," Nihmri said, idly poking one of the dead things with her foot. "Seems rather strange that they'd know to look for us here, no? I wonder if perhaps the mayor clued them in. And if he did, maybe he did the same to our dear Harper friend..."

+1400xp for Toric, Slade, Nihmri, Suula, Amathain, and Shanni.

Just an FYI, short swords and hammers are both martial weapons, so if can use either then you must have the feat.

Sorry forgot to post

The group left the village and looked for the Undead place. The place was full of traps but eventually they got out alive with a few more items of power. It was a temple of Ancient Gods and it was also a kind of challenge. Apparently they had done well not disturbing things and avoided temptations...

"So what do we do now?" asked Pius tired of going in circles. "Does anybody have a clue of what is going on in this village?"

Perhaps they had upset the Gods. Pius noted that they did not seem to prey as much as they did before becoming full time adventurers. Now it was more like a quick prayer a dawn and dusk and the group as a whole was apparently taking the Gods favours for granted...
